Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 08:59PM TheUK basedreenactment group, Tiger 1, Kampfgruppe StahlKrieger, operates asurplus Soviet era T-55 main battle tank which has beenrebuilt at great expense to represent a German Tiger I tank. Theconversion wascarried out by Carl Brown of C&C Military Services, but the Tiger is now owned by Mick Hodgkinson. The group's website has several pages devoted to their Tiger and the other armoured vehicles they operate.The Tiger has been seen for years at military vehicles shows and living history events in the UK, like the War and Peace Show andMilitary Odyssey, and the beast is available for film hire and has already used in several television documentaries.This Tiger is often confused with the T-34/85 basedTiger conversions carried out by Plus Film Services for "Saving Private Ryan" and "Band of Brothers." Photos of this T-55 Tiger have even shown up in World War II history books with the captions claiming the vehicle is a real Tiger I!

Update: 26 July 2009 - A bit of house cleaning, Tiger Inc. is no more. The group disbanded sometime in February 2009. The T-55 Tiger is no longer with group following Mick Hodgkinson's departure from the group. The survivors have reformed as Kampfgruppe StahlKrieger.
